The left hand tower, as you face the cemetery, includes steps leading up to a viewing platform. This gives you a wonderful view of the cemetery, the memorial and the surrounding countryside, including the imposing twin slagheaps (terrils in French) of Loos-en-Gohelle , which are the tallest in Europe.
